SENC Foods Processing & Distribution (SENC Foods) is a farmers’ cooperative that is committed to helping small limited-resource farmers gain access to local food markets. A collaboration between FEASTDOWNEAST (SENCFS) and farmers across the Southeastern corridor of North Carolina, SENC Foods eases the marketing burdens on small and limited resource farmers. It also makes it easier and more convenient for restaurants, retail markets, and institutional buyers like schools, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, prisons, and area military bases to purchase local agricultural products.

SENC Foods provides:

  • Marketing, aggregation and distribution of fresh produce and locally crafted value-added food products
  • Simple processing of farmer produce --  includes flash-freezing and dehydration, as well as cold storage of some of the produce at its peak flavor to extend its seasonal availability into the winter months
  • Education, training and support to local  farmers to improve their business and agricultural success
  • Support for farmers and local food entrepreneurs to transform their own produce into shelf-stable products that can be enjoyed all year long.

SENC Foods Processing and Distribution is a program of the Southeastern North Carolina Food System Program (SENCFS), based at the Historic Train Depot in Burgaw, North Carolina.  Farmers are invited to join the SENC Foods Farmers’ Cooperative.  Food entrepreneurs, restaurants, retail markets, and institutional buyers are invited to purchase locally grown and crafted foods through the SENC Foods Processing and Distribution Center.
