Britt Farms
Jennifer and Vernon Britt 371 Manley Grove Church Rd., Mount Olive, NC Britt Farm opened its doors again in 2006 after Vernon Britt’s parents quit farming a few decades back. The land had been in the family since the mid-1600s, given to them through a land grant. Originally a tobacco, corn, and soybean farm, Britt Farm grows quality fruits and vegetables on a hundred acres in Mt. Olive, NC. “It’s a lot of hard work,” admits Jennifer of Britt Farms, “but I love the chance to meet people at market.” From April to November, Britt Farm sells their produce in Raleigh at the state farmers’ market. Jennifer’s grandparents were farmers too, of tobacco and corn. Now the farming duo have 1100 peaches, all sorts of vegetables, strawberries, melons and more. Jennifer also manages the CSA deliveries in Wayne county for the farm. One of her customers told her that each delivery is like a “veggie Christmas.” Products: Seasonal vegetables and strawberries Growing practices: Conventional |
