Blog April 2026 From Mobile Market Manager
Happy Spring! This is always my favorite time of the year-we’re shaking off the last bit of winter chill and looking forward to warmer and longer days. The birds are singing, flowers begin to bloom, and there is a feeling of renewal all around. It’s a time where we can walk a little slower when we’re outside, really take in the world around us, and reflect.
This will be my 4th full year with Feast Down East, and I’ve certainly noticed a few things. First, I have stopped thinking about the yearly calendar solely based on school semesters, but rather by local produce seasonality. This isn’t Spring Semester, this is strawberry season! Second, each year that goes by, I learn something new about the agricultural diversity that exists here in Eastern NC, and find myself feeling more inspired and grateful to call this unique place my home. Finally, the more I do this work, the more I am reminded of our duty to care for the earth, just as she cares for us.
April 22nd is Earth Day, which is always a great reminder of how vital it is that we do our part to keep our planet healthy. At Feast Down East, we work with so many amazing farms, all of whom share the commitment to sustainable practices and producing healthy, nourishing food for everyone in our community. As you experience spring this year, try to take a second and think about what this time of year means for you.
If you’re looking for some of that nourishing food mentioned above, shop locally and come see us at the Mobile Market- we’ve got markets all over New Hanover, Pender, and Brunswick counties, and have some popups coming up that we’re super excited for. We’ll see you soon and in the meantime, enjoy your Spring season!
